The Diary of Queen Mothy |
An Introduction to the Inexplicable World of Samantha Reno written @ 1:53 p.m. on December 31, 2001 Wow. I have a web diary. I'm sure this deserves some sort of celebration or is a rite of passage for someone who's been technologically impaired all her life, however all I can do at this point is thank my lunch-bunch buddy Ryan for enlightening me to the convienience and speed of putting together a diary on-line. A damned shame if this site ever crashes, eh? Anyway, here's a brief synopsis of moi, Samantha Reno, aka QueenMothy: AGE: 17 ASTROLOGICAL SYMBOL: Taurus CHINESE HOROSCOPE: Rat ELEMENTS: Earth and Spirit BIRTHSTONE: Emerald LOCATION: My comfy chair in a little shard of suburbia known as West Chester in a city that is trying to grow up called Cincinnati HOBBIES: Visual and theatrical arts, writing novels, building webpages that I'll possibly never finish, fooling around with video cameras, reading, collecting unicorns, studying the RMS Titanic, and pretending to be constructive. GENERAL LIKES: Anything high with sugar/caffeine content, summer days/nights, cats, gardening, all the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy for you and me, friends, computer, earth, Renaissance paintings, stuff you can find at Hot Topic, Cafe Mocha. SKILLS: Drawing, painting, sculpting, directing, acting, writing, and pretending to be constructive. FAVORITE QUOTE: "In life, there are only two things you have to worry about: either you are well, or you are sick. If you're well, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you're sick, then you have two things to worry about: either you will get better, or you will get worse. If you get better, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you get worse, then you have two things you have to worry about: either you will live or you will die. If you live, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you die, then you have two things to worry about: either you will go to heaven, or you will go to hell. If you go to heaven, then you have nothing to worry about. But if you go to hell, you'll be so busy shaking hands with old friends that you won't have time to worry! Why worry?" Irish proverb FAVORITE COLORS: Green, blue, crimson PET PEEVES: Being called a liar; repetition in life, music, and art ASPIRATIONS: To go to college and take a double-major in art and theater, and become a) an art director for Broadway or Hollywood, b) an animator for some big film company, c) actress on Broadway/Hollywood, d) a well-off artist with a summer beach house, working with seascapes, or a small actress with a small company, e) form a group of artists working together to keep up with rents in our New York studio apartment, or f) a starving artist. (Either way, I get what I want.) After reading or skimming the above ragged synopsis of me, I'm sure you are either identifying with my struggles already, or merely raising an eyebrow. That's okay. I get that all the time. ;-) In any case, I do believe you will find this diary and interesting read. I have much to say, and I am quite proud of the fact that no matter what I say, it can never capture me in the true light. I have been told that I have "a delightfully complicated personality" and can turn on the edge of the knife at any point. With that being said, if the reader of this diary knows me well, or thinks he or she does, I must warn you to be on your guard. Truth is often a double-edged sword. I will relate to you my adventures and my memories in time. Believe me, there are many quirks and anecdotes. Being an artist, I am already labeled as insane, but it is my personal opinion that the world is much better off having insane people. It's you "normal" people that scare me. I bet some of you are wondering why I chose QueenMothy as a screen name, and my answer is quite simple: Queen Mothy is the name of a unicorn in the novels (unpublished) that I have written. She is my angel, my voice of wisdom (I wish she would speak up more often on this point), a tragic heroine in a unicorn's own special way, and is in constant turmoil with outside powers and her own torn heart. I will admit that she is a part of me, and we each go through our lives suffering but making the best out of what we have. But she is so much more than what I can ever be. Thus, one can say that Mothy is what I aspire to become in spirit form. For while she may fail in her quest and lose much of what she loves in the end, she will have attained happiness, an inner beauty, and an identity with which she can live with. Okay. Enough with the deep stuff. I think December 31 is the ideal time for anyone to create a diary. I see it as a time of tying up loose ends in one chapter of someone's life and a cliffhanger for what is to happen in the next chapter. For me, I can say with some reservation that I accomplished all that I set out to do in 2001 AD with some regret, but that regret I have is my fuel to my furnace of strength. I am by no means an unhappy individual at this point in time, only weary in heart. And I think I am too young yet to be weary in heart. But such is the life of an American teenager growing up in post-September 11th America. "All the world's a stage; and all the men and women merely players." I think you must now become accumstomed to the cast list of my dramatic tale of life: FAMILY: Sam's Mom: Arlene Reno Sam's Dad: David Reno Sam's brother: Jonathan Reno *You will more than likely hear frequent references to other relatives, both living and dead, in which case I'll enlighten you to their connections, and, of course, pets!* TEACHERS: Mr. Hume, Journalism teacher extraordinaire Mrs. Smardon, World History teacher extraordinaire Mr. Koger, photography and audio/video tech teacher Ms. Hagedorn, AP Art teacher Mr. Duff, geology teacher Madame Cope, AP French teacher *There are many other teachers I know you'll be hearing about, and once again, I'll enlighten you when the time comes.* FRIENDS, AKA "The Posse": Katharine Pan Christine Walsh Jessica Barrington Jeff Thompson Liz Maurer Emily Schroeder Casey Sears Elliott Nyguen Sean Townsend Maria Khoury Ashley Hartz *It should be noted that this is in no way a blacklist. If you are reading this, know me, and feel as if you've been shafted, my apologies ahead of time. I am, after all, a blonde. The Posse is merely the group of people I am closest to. If I forgot your name for some ridiculous reason, please e-mail me.* LUNCH-BUNCH GANG: Ryan Erin Casey (See "The Posse") Emily Joe Welp, there's your basic cast and crew. Pretty much everyone I've at least engaged friendly conversation with through the course of my high school years is going to be there. You know what that means? GOSSIP! Happy New Year!
