Screwing With My Schedule written @ 2:40 PM on January 09, 2003 Well, NKU has screwed with my schedule again and cancelled my theatrical rendering and modeling class for my scenic design degree due to "low enrollment." Well, fuck, there's only two goddamned scenic designers in the entire NKU theater department-- of course there's going to be low enrollment! Great of them to tell me at the last second when there are no openings for substitute classes and I was a mere 48 hours away from buying my books. When I was on the phone with the secretary of the theater department, I asked her, "May I ask a stupid question? If my classes keep getting cancelled, how am I going to get my degree and graduate?" I heard a rather remarkable awkward pause on the other end, something for which I am proud of. God, I'm such a bitch sometimes, but if you ask me, that was a rather legitimate question. So then I went hunting for spare art and theater courses I could pick up, but nothing that I wanted/needed I could get into. Hell, I even went looking for French classes, but those are filled (that's a phenomena I'll be pondering about for some time, too). Then I thought about fulfilling another course for my Honors minor, but, alas, once more I was thwarted. Then I landed on history. I can always count on my friend history to unravel me from a tight knot, and to fulfill my general studies requirement, I enrolled in History of Europe up to 1713. I imagine it's going to be like deja vu and a blast from the past like Mrs. Smardon's world history class my senior year of high school. Quite frankly, I'm looking forward to it, and such information gained in that class will be put to excellent use in my novels early in my series. I don't think I'll sell that textbook back. But I am sorely disappointed in my loss of an art or theater course nonetheless. Next year, if I get screwed again, I'm gonna open a can of whoop-ass on those departments, because not only are they cheating me out of an early education but they're also cheating me out of early field work and job experience, dammit! Look, I am Sam Reno and no one fucking messes with my career! *sigh* Oh well. I can't wait to hear about Greece, Rome, rising empires, crazy kings, wars, and art and culture all over again. It'll be worth it in the end, I guess.
