The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Blame the Rain written @ 3:20 PM on September 26, 2002 It rained today. Because the weather dictates my moods, I was feeling lethargic and rather cynical and grumpy. We're doing figure abstraction in Drawing II. I hate most forms of abstract art, but this strange little picture actually turned out to be interesting. Some color work, and it could possibly be a successful painting. But I am afraid to start painting when it feels as though my schedule is about to blow up in my face, so now I'm tottering on the brink of acting and waiting for something horrible to go wrong, as often it does in the grand schemes of my life. I actually didn't feel like working today in art. Damn rain. The highlight of my day actually had to be when a professor who's been working on his genealogy came in to speak to my immigration experiences class about doing research. At last I finally found someone within a reasonable radius of my dorm room who loves to do family history. The professor gave me his e-mail address and said to contact him if I have any questions. Well, I did have some questions about what I should do about the brick wall on my dad's side of the family, but he wasn't especially helpful with my particular problem because I hit "the darkest of genealogy problems in research." Great. Leave it to my family. We'll see what happens, I suppose. I'm going to attempt to send away for a death certificate for my great-grandfather in 1926 instead of 1927. Hopefully something will turn up. Then in my "wonderful," "interesting," "sublime" mathematics for liberal arts college level class, I learned that 3+3+3+3+3+3= 6x3= 18. Wow. Incredible. All of time must have stood still. And now I'm here. I think I'll nap. Damn rain.
