Four-Day Update written @ 7:58 PM on November 03, 2002 Okay, my excuse for not updating yesterday like I planned: my friend Derek informed me that he had the PC version of the game "Harry Potter" so I spent the past two days beating the damned thing. I was so pissed at Voldemort killing me by the end that I destroyed everything that could be destroyed in the last level and blew the evil bastard to kingdom come. Or at least until the next video game comes out. Quite frankly, I relieved a lot of stress from recent weeks, and I feel like a new person! Phsycians ought to distribute "Harry Potter" as a stress reliever. So, anyhoo, here's the scoop on the past four days... Halloween was great. Instead of going to the riverboat drunk fest like I planned on last week, I went with the college capadres to a play version of "The Two Towers" downtown at the Aranoff. What a great show. They had a shaky start with the beginning battle scene, but it was masterful the way they portrayed the story and did the special effects. A neat theater, too. Gollum was my favorite, and he was portrayed by a woman from NKU. In fact a lot of the performers were from NKU; yeeeup, we had CCM's ass whipped all over the stage. Go back to Clifton, you prima donnas, the NKU theater department can hold it's own! Nothing like some shameless school spirit to brighten my Sunday. Then on Friday I went home to see my old high school's play, "Our Town." I hate that show to begin with, and with the terrible rendition profaning the sacred ground that was my stage, my home, my territory, my abode in high school, I drooped my head in shame. It was bad, guys. Schmaltz's directing job just did not cut it, and it didn't help that he filled most of the lead roles with underclassmen who clearly had no idea what in the fuck they were doing. In my opinion, a show is not doing so great when you can sit in the audience area and imagine how you could have said this or that line differently and with energy. The show only hightened my resolve to go back for the musical-- God help them-- and straighten their asses out. We all should go back and put on some theater magic for them. Show them how it's really done. Because at this rate, Lakota West will probably be howling in the aisles. Ironically enough, I met most of the "Steel Magnolias" cast from last year. Christine said she had no idea I was showing up. It was nice to see her again and be back in that theater. We went out to Applebees after the show and caught up on things. Yes, the posse, my personal therapist. I stayed at home overnight but set off mid-afternoon for the dorm. I was really serving no purpose being at home any longer. I don't have that old feeling of security that accompanies the word "home." I'm thinking that's not very healthy, but, hey, it's time to grow up and blaze a new trail. I found a scar on my cat Pierre's back. I don't think he and Smokey are getting along that well anymore, and it kind of concerns me. They've been fighting over the windowsill seat lately, to the point that they're hissing and taking punches at each other. I'm thinking they must have gotten into quite the scuffle when no one was home. The evidence piles up nicely when my mom told me she's been finding fresh tufts of hair in the laundry room. *sigh* That makes me a little sad. Saturday, I didn't really do much, or what I can remember of it was spent on Derek's computer fighting gnomes, collecting Berry Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Chocolate Frogs and Wizard Cards, and getting into trouble with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Today was much of the same thing. Only, like I said, I blasted Voldemort and Professor Quirrel to hell just in time before I lost the last bit of my energy and started the level over again. There was much jubilation, I can assure you. Then I went shopping for some supplies for my final projects in classes in Florence. Ended up buying the "Harry Potter" soundtrack for the first movie, about time. It sounds like carnival music, and I love it. John Williams rocks! And then I worked a little bit. Just waiting for some paint to dry now. I heard Ashley returned home this weekend. She should have told me so I could have made plans to go out with her instead of returning to the school. But maybe some other time. Sean called me today and we chatted for a couple minutes before I had to leave for Walgreens to pick up some paper towels (a soda exploded in our refrigerator.... grrrr). He says he's doing better; his legs are okay and he'll be beginning classes at the University of Arizona to pick up some credits. He seemed kind of sad, so I'm just waiting for him to call me back. Anyhoo, tis all for now.
