The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Amazing Greed written @ 12:04 AM on December 20, 2002 Ah yes, indeed, Christine, the wonders of genealogy. If you have documented your finds, send me some stuff. I'd like to see what you uncovered. Just remember to WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING. You can print some of the Census files from the computer, too. Those are legit documents. Eventually, you may want to find genealogical societies if you come across brickwalls. ~~~ Okay, the latest update. My stalker did not come into work last night, thanks to the manipulation of a brilliant guardian angel I must have. However, because I'm working this afternoon and it is a Friday, I'm anticipating his unwanted arrival before 4 o'clock. Jessica, my co-worker, has a stalker of her own, it seems. Only hers she could shake off easier than I can by blocking his e-mail address, blocking his number, and filing for a restraining order. His name, on the other hand, is Josh who is looking to contact her for a potential "business investment." Whatever, she drawled. "Is that what they're calling it these days? 'Business investment?'" Gwyne, another co-worker of mine, is a little nervous for us both, and she told us to tell Deborah and call security if they come in, etc. Basically, the same thing my mother had issued a diatribe about. Last night, though, we weren't bothered too much. I told Jessica that if I suddenly duck into the back room, she'll know why. And it's my job to tell Josh, should he call the store, that Jessica is dead. Jessica is a laugh a minute. She comes from a rough family situation, it seems. In fact, I think she's living with her boyfriend and his mom, but she comes across as a very strong, very idealistic person. She makes me laugh. There's this wooden cow in the store, and she put on its price tag "To Good Home." I, in turn, took a horse of the same model and wrote, "Pick me. I'm cuter." So now we have this all out war going in the store as to who can out-sell the other, the cows or the horses. So far the cows are winning, but that's just because there aren't a lot of horses. Deborah had us close down last night, too, and so ten minutes to ten, we decided we were going to rip through the store and pick out all the things we wanted to buy before some other customer did. Thank God for our paychecks. I have, like, $80 worth of stuff stashed in the back room on a white bag that reads "Hold 4 Sam," BUT with the 20% employee discount, it's much cheaper. And if I wait until after Christmas when the store sale goes on, I get 30% off. My greed amazes me sometimes. But, hey, what I picked out is not all for me. I bought my mom's birthday present two months early. It's a beautiful little amethyst pendant that I think she had her eye on when she came to the store. Hell, I want it myself, but as long as it stays in the family, she can have it. A lot of the good jewelry in the store is gone, but I managed to heist some earrings and rings and stash them in my bag, to be paid for as soon as I cash my paycheck this afternoon. So... I better go now and get ready.
