Book One of Fantasm complete! written @ 4:55 PM on June 14, 2003 Well, it's done! The plot line for Book One is officially done! I am so excited and so relieved to have gotten through the sheer odyssey that was writing that book. I don't think there has ever been a more complicated piece of manuscript/paper/document that I've had to write than this finished product of mine. I wouldn't necessarily call it a masterpiece (the last book in the series is the masterpiece), but it's a beginning, and it's a beginning that starts with a bang. Now that the stage of the series has been set, my actors are in place, the lights are focused, and the curtain brought down on the house, the series is going to take off from here. The saga begins. I feel so relieved. Mind you, there's a lot of editing that needs to be done, but I think you'd call the overall work a success. I'm in much better shape now than I was about one year ago around this time when the Great Delete occurred. It's taken about eight or nine months to write this. I assure you that this manuscript-- unlike the others-- is going to be backed up on two computers, floppies, and zip disks-- to prevent any further "accidents" from happening. I swear, if I lose this novel again, I'll slit my wrists. I'm going to start investing in ink cartridges in preparation for the day I'm ready to send it off to a publisher. That won't be for a while, but it will be before I graduate from college (and hey, I'm a double major; I've got quite a bit of time left). All I need are editors... Christine has done me huge favors by going through the chapters and seriously critiquing them, but eventually I'll need other opinions as well. Posse members, if you're interested in fantasy sagas, drop me a line sometime. *** I think I know how I'm going to redesign the sets for "In Flame." It'll be complicated, but I think what I have in my head may work. *** I planted a small little plant in a pot that's part of my mini faerie garden, and the way it has grown has struck me with interest. I'm going to do a huge canvas painting on it. The way the leaves have grown, the moss, and the tiny bits of fungi that have taken root have interesting design elements that would make for an unusual composition. You gotta love being inspired by nature. *** At home things are still pretty dark. *** I'm going to begin redesigning my diary soon, thanks to my handy dandy book on HTML. Diaryland, look out.
