The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Book Three: Done! written @ 9:28 PM on January 07, 2005 I think my friend Katharine and I are the only people in the Midwest who really seem to dislike the band Maroon 5. I was on my way to the art store this evening, and three different radio stations were playing three different Maroon 5 songs at the same time! Keep in mind there are only three semi-decent radio stations in Cincinnati-- that ones that aren't classical, that is; well, karma was against me from the start. I wonder what I did. Anyway, I am here to report that my 365 sunsets project kicked off with a bang. To reiterate, it's my independent study/senior Honors thesis in which I go out at 6:00pm everyday for one year and paint the sky on a canvas board! Yay. But you can't see jack at 6:00pm in January, so the first six canvases are, well, mostly black and quite a bit dark blue. To make matters more dismal, it's rained everyday since December 31st. This evening, however, there were light blues! And this is reason to celebrate! Seven down, 358 to go. *** I finished rewriting my third novel this afternoon, and I have to breathe a sigh of relief. I'm backing that mo-fo up on ten different disks to prevent the Great Delete from ever happening again. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, the Great Delete occurred about three summers ago in which I accidentally deleted nine novels in a fantasy series I had been writing-- and it ranks number two in the Top Ten Most Traumatic Things to Happen to Sam In Her Life List. If you check my archives around 2001, I'm sure you'll find the entry where I was basically having a mental breakdown and threw nine conniptions at once-- one for every book lost-- and suffered complete emotional meltdown. My friends will attest that I was not myself for... um... a long time. It makes me very moody and depressed to think about it. So... what I had to do was locate the original outlines on my family's Windows 95 Aptiva G4 system and retype them. It's taken about two and a half years to get through three novels. Meanwhile, we've gotten a new computer and the original outlines are still on the old system. I've been taking them off the old system as needed. I am ready to take on the fourth. Here's yet another twist in my tragic tale of creative woe: the Aptiva computer is missing from the basement, and no one in the family has their cell phones on so I may demand an explanation without losing my goddamned mind as to where its location may be. *deep breath* Because there are still six original books on the old computer. I have to do something to waste nervous energy until my mother gets home so she can help me find the computer, so here I am, typing an entry. Problem is, I have run out of things to say. *** School starts on Monday. Ode to effing joy.
