The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Ode to Richard Harris, aka Professor Albus Dumbledoore written @ 9:27 PM on October 25, 2002 Ah, what a day. I walked into stagecraft class today only to discover it cancelled, and then Derek, this guy Chris, and I went to Bob Evans (yes, I was shuddering) for a late breakfast. Actually, it was a second breakfast. Then we drove back to the campus to drop Chris off for class, and Derek and I, not having anything else better to do the rest of the day, went Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings shopping! All day! First we stopped at Walmart, and I bought a Gryffindor banner poster (on the ceiling), a Harry Potter Quidditch action figure (which is hanging on its sliding string on the window), and a Ron Weasley action figure (hanging on Harry's broom), which shoots a magic bolt from his arm when you press down. I happily told Mother that we are on our way to getting my Christmas shopping list complete. *evil grin* 40 stores later, I ended up buying yet another Harry Potter poster, the one for the "Chamber of Secrets" with the three kids looking mischieviously at each other with the amusing caption "I have a feeling we're going to regret this." I also finally at last located a "Fellowship of the Ring" poster, the one with Frodo darkly illuminated by the One Ring. It's awesome. And all the posters are tacked to the ceiling. I daresay they were some nice finishing touches to my motely decorating scheme. I tried searching for some decent "Lord of the Rings" action figures to compliment my newborn Harry Potter set, but they don't have any of the main characters for "The Two Towers" out yet. Well, that's not entirely true, I did find a Legolas action figure (a rather good looking one, too, girls), but Derek then informed me that Amazon has them cheaper. Needless to say, my Amazon Wishlist is three pages long now. The relatives don't need to fetch me anything this Christmas-- just send money so I can reduce my Wishlist. Derek joked that I was going to get a refrigerator-sized box from Amazon at college. That would certainly be hilarious signing the papers for that. But now I'm in much lower spirits. I just learned that Richard Harris, the man of genius who played Professor Albus Dumbledoore in Harry Potter, just died a couple of hours ago. I'm so sad. It's going to be so hard to replace him for the future films. The cast and crew of the Harry Potter films must be so bummed. Christ Almighty, I'm bummed. Someone send me a "get well soon" card. Dammit, this really is depressing! You'd think God would have at least waited until all the films were done. But then maybe God thought Rich sucked at Dumbledoore and gave the producers this opportunity to find a more wholesome actor. But then that's horrible! Harris was wholesome enough! *sigh* I think I'll go call my mom and cry over this.
