Clean-o my room-o, Stevo! written @ 12:45 PM on May 03, 2003 Yesterday I was cleaning my room in preparation for my big move-out day for the summer. I assure you, I am lucky to be alive after that odyssey. And you know something else? It was like the Salvation Army dumped their rejected items in my room and failed to tell me they had done so. For instance: what the fuck am I going to do with three different kinds of can openers? How did all that popcorn accumulate in my food bin, when I didn't even buy popcorn once this year? How did I end up with three boxes of hot chocolate mix? Where did that bar of Dove soap, the extra roll of paper towels, and all that shampoo come from?! What was growing on my strawberries! But not to worry, some good came out of cleaning my room. The air is purer somehow, and... get this... I accidentally dropped my copy of "Anna Karenina" from my shelf, lost the bookmark, and was unable to find where I left off. This is great news! That means God and Dolan don't want me reading "Anna Karenina" after all! I've never been so happy in my life. I feel so guilty at not having been able to get through such a book, but, honestly, I gave Tolstoy a chance, and it's no wonder everyone then and now thought/thinks he's crazy. It's back to my fantasy books, thank God. *** Brian has a habit of going on Broadway.com and, being the crazy theatre enthusiast that he is, leaves comments on the message boards. Well, for the past couple of weeks, he's been in contact with this guy Stephen (whose friends call his Stevo) from Texas. Stevo is 19 years old, and the school he's attending now will only let him get an associates degree in acting, which, as people in theater can tell you, will get you shit in life. So Brian, the crazy schmuck, got all excited and told him all about NKU. Apparently Stevo was blown away. Brian and Stevo got to talking on the phone, and Stevo called the chair of the theater department and talked to him a lot. Finally, Stevo sent in his application for admission and scheduled a trip to NKU. And that's where I was Thursday: the Cincinnati International Airport. It didn't once cross Brian's mind that he could be picking up a mass murderer, but that's besides the point. Stevo has been staying with Brian in his room the past couple of days. I cannot imagine what his roommate, Derek, thinks of all this. Stevo has been attending the last few YES Festival shows, as well as experiencing the sights and sounds of Cincinnati-- which doesn't take long. Annalyse and I are of the disposition that Stevo may be a nice guy, but something about his personality isn't sitting well with us. I can imagine how nervous Stevo would be coming up here by himself, but... All in all, it looks like Stevo will be coming-o to NKU-o in the fall-o because he's impressed-o with the theater program-o, thanks to Brian-o. *** Mom is coming down to the school today to watch my last show. I'm quite thrilled that it's almost over and can recover ownership on my soul. Right now I need to finish my laundry and get a haircut-- don't worry, only two inches off my mane. Then I want to finish printing a bunch of papers, run to Meijer to get shit for my last art project, and... bam... show time. So that's the agenda. Toodles!
