The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Stuff o' Rama! written @ 7:39 PM on March 04, 2003 I woke up today armed and dangerous and ready to take on the peril that is speech class--only to discover it was cancelled about five minutes before it was supposed to start. Boy, I was pretty happy, except for the fact that I don't know if my purpose statement will work: "To persuade my audience that censoring children's literature like 'Harry Potter' is detrimental to child psychology and imagination." I assure you, when it comes to pulling stuff out of her ass, Christine is very good at that! I give most credit to her. All I have to do now is sift through all the bull shit Christian fundamentalist crap on the net, find a few good quotes, and bam! A Harry Potter speech. On the subject of Christian stuff, I have decided to give up soda for this Lent, seeing as to how college has addicted me to it, except for Sundays, which is the day of rest. Tee hee! You can all thank Tricia for that. Tricia is actually one staunch Catholic, which I don't find often these days. But because we hang out so much and she's going to be my roommate next year, she's been making me go to church and reinstate some stable form of religion in my life. Which is why I'm actually participating in Lent this year AND going to get ashes at mass tomorrow... The second I get any Bible-beating flimflam from her mouth, though, is the day I call it quits. You might say I believe in taking things at my own pace, at my own discretion, as blasphemous as that sounds. Anyway, after skipping happily back to the dorm from my cancelled speech class, I devoted a good hour to my novel. I'm just trucking along as far as that goes! I project to be finished with Book One sometime this June, and the way things are going now, I may be done by May. Depends how much I finish over spring break. Actually, I don't plan on leaving my laptop at all next week. I took a quiz in history class today. I think I got Crusades One, Two, and Three mixed up, but oh well. In the end, it failed. And then in Art Concepts, we had a group presentation on comic book art... Then I went back to my room, worked on both homework and my book. When I left for dinner around 5, my roommate was still asleep. In fact, she just got up a couple minutes ago at-- what?-- 7:30. She came in last night around one. So that means she's had a good 17.5 hours of sleep. I haven't had that much... ever. Consequently, she also has a .7 GPA. I've spent most of the night so far working on the book-- still-- and now I need to do something more academically productive. Posh!
