The Diary of Queen Mothy |
The Thespian Faction written @ 9:16 PM on March 11, 2002 Welp. I've had enough. I'm ready to graduate. Seriously, the fortress known as high school is becoming quite an obsolete matter. At this rate, I'm only going to school for journalism, world history, and AP Art. Forget the damned homework. Forget the tests and quizzes. Forget the monotony of following the systematic bells of the day. Quite frankly, it's driving me nuts. Yup, it's definitely time for a change in scenery. In fact, it's time to grow up and strike out some independence. This summer I must get a job and start on a steady income. Oh well. There went another futile attempt to motivate myself. Recently, Jeff and a bunch of people to whom I will collectively call the Thespian Faction have decided, "OH MY GOD! LET'S DO ANOTHER PLAY!" Naturally, they confronted me about it in a willful attempt to enlist my help, and my jaw dropped to the floor. "Are you guys flipping INSANE?! Do you have any idea how on earth you would pull something like that off? Don't you realize you need MONEY to buy the rights to a show, to get a program, to do advertising, and to fund the supervisor and that Mr. Hagaman WILL NOT help us because he thinks you're insane too?!?!?!" "But, Sam, the principal said it was a great idea, and she said to go for it!" "Does Mrs. Barber have any freaking CLUE what goes into the production of a show?!?!?!" My guess is no. Otherwise she definitely would not have given these guys the approval to do a student run performance. Of course I said I would help them-- IF they took the necessary measures to ensure clean rehearsals, organization, and a know-how on what the hell to do. Their play of choice? Welp, they first went to "Dracula," then they wanted to make up their own, then they went back to "Dracula" again, and now they're considering "To Kill a Mockingbird." Holy shit: that's basically all I have to say. What's worse is that it really looks like they're serious about doing a third show, set to debut a week after school gets out. Some members of the Thespian Faction wre interviewed by "The Spark" today, so God help us all once this begins to circulate to the public. Ugh, that's enough ranting about that horrendous idea; it's giving me a headache. Quite frankly, I think I caught a bit of a cold; I've felt miserable with congestion all day-- not that you wanted to hear that. Sleeping is appealing. As far as other problems go, there is an update to mention on the latest developments between my father and I, but I don't wish to spoil my quiet mood with something unsettling. Let's just put it this way: he's ready to "cut me loose," as Mother as warned. Use your imagination as to what on earth that could mean. In other news, he's looking to buy a bar. Again. You know what? The sooner I move out, the better off everyone will be, I think. NKU is looking mighty appealing. As a matter of fact, I meet with the art department this coming Wednesday, so we'll see what the verdict is afterwards. UC and RISD have yet to get back to me. I'd rather they don't; it would make my college decision so much easier. *yawn* Damn, I'm tired. I hope that medicine kicks in real soon. It's some sort of Sudafed cold stuff that warns you only to take one of the tiny pills, so it's gotta be some potent stuff. I hope it pulls a Benadrill on me.
