Winter-- I mean SPRING break... written @ 3:24 PM on March 11, 2005 I am of the opinion that winter was one of God's worse ideas, ranked up there with the creation of mankind. I say this because it is currently snowing, when just a few days ago it was 60 degrees. To top it off, this week has technically been my "spring break." So what I have been up to spring break? Well, in my last entry I informed you, dear reader, that I was banishing myself to the basement in an effort to knock out sunset paintings for my humongoid project. And this I have done. I have completed 15 oil paintings in 3 days, bringing the grand total of sunset paintings up to 46. I would do more, but the work needs time to set and dry before I can transport it back to school. Forty-six paintings, when you think about it, sounds like... a lot... when you consider that some painters only put out three paintings a year... Incidentally those paintings may sell for $75,000 apiece, but I'm not ready for that yet, and it may be a while before I can even conceive the thought of someone shelling out that kind of moolah for the stuff that I do. When I haven't been painting, I've been doing research projects that I'm struggling to get a head start on, including this "history of American money design" project for my graphic design history class, and a huge research paper on Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida (a not-so-popular farce, so don't feel dumb if you've never heard of it). Then I've been studying ... although why I'm studying I don't know. I'm trying to write this goddamned paper on this terrible Pierce Brosnan flick (the movie isn't even about Pierce Brosnan either!), but then I realized I left most of my notes back at the dorm (too bad so sad, I say). And then I'm working on set design stuff for school and my downtown job, neither of which I'm getting paid for, hence justifying some of my procrastination. As a result, I haven't gotten out of the house in about a week. And it hasn't been much of a spring break. Jessica did visit me to drop of a unicorn shower curtain, which I was very excited about, because who thinks to make unicorn shower curtains?! Those will be going in my apartment... when I get one... which might not be until I'm 40 years old at this rate. When I haven't been at home (and seeing me in public is as wondrous as a yetti sighting), I've been hanging out at corporate bookstores such as Barnes&Noble, perusing their CDs and art magazines. I bought the Amelie soundtrack and one CD from this collection called Aria, which combines opera and techno. It sounds odd if you can't imagine how it sounds but it's actually a fab little CD. Check out the demos online sometime. Other than that, life is uneventful, and I'm not about to bore you folks with my "homework adventures." Because honestly, it bores me. *sigh* Well, it's back to set design, I guess...
