The Diary of Queen Mothy | |
Yeeeup. written @ 7:11 PM on September 12, 2002 It's strange how purging your soul of turmoil and immediately falling asleep later can make you wake up with a clean slate. I rose this morning feeling something I had not felt in a long time. I could not say what this was. I am loving my new Drawing II class. Today we went outside next to the old log cabin and drew the model there. It was a little cold; there is a breath of wind slowly chipping off the summer little by little now, but the sunlight was still strong and warm. Julie (my new prof) is really cool, really nice, and is giving me free reign over my artistic license. She expects great things from me, she says. I cannot fall into any snag now, not like what happened earlier this week. No, that shall never happen again. Immigration experiences was mainly a discussion about the effect of race, class, and wealth on how well a poverty stricken individual does in American society when it comes to upward mobility. I was tired, though. I really did not want to deal with issues that I had had no experience with. We're going to be doing projects on immigrant ethnic groups. Keeping up with my genealogy, I'm focusing on Czechoslovakian immigrants. Math was insane. I am pretty sure Dr. Moore is losing his damned mind. You'd think for a guy who is on his last year of teaching that he would take it easy. You know what we're studying *now*? Extinct apportionment methods. What that means is we're learning different methods of giving the 50 states "equal representation" according to population ratios in the House of Representatives. Extinct methods! Extinct because, like the our dear old voting methods, they don't work worth a damn! It also struck me today that Dr. Moore sounds like Kermit the Frog at age 60 teaching math. I almost burst out laughing today when this realization struck me. People are so fed up with that class; thank God we're not taking final exams. So now my evenings are free. I no longer have Drawing I from 6:15-9:00. No. Instead, I have work to do. So adeu.
