The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Da Moolah! written @ 9:32 PM on April 18, 2004 Had a lovely day, once I got past doing the homework. After dinner, my dorm pals Michelle and Erin and I went up to Mount Lookout to a coffeehouse, and chilled there for a while as the sun was setting on this beautiful spring day. I brought my sketchbook with me and captured the coffeehouse's ivy wall and random plant life growing about. The iced almond joy coffee was yummy. It's in a rather historic part of Cincinnati, right by the river off of the Columbia Parkway. The pear trees along the street were in bloom and the sun lit up the facades of the Chinese restaurants and bistros on one side of the street. The sparrows hopped about on the pavement in search of scraps. A dog wandered the sidewalks. In the end, I have pondered the fact that I might have a wandering sort of life. Always moving someplace new. Always in search of new things. A gypsy. Never in the same place more than three years. Very bohemian. Why not? Of course, that takes money. *** At the coffeehouse we were discussing Europe. Erin and Michelle have already been abroad. Michelle remembers (sort of) some fond drinking experiences in Tuscany, and Erin remembers a lot of pot and coffee in Amsterdam. I think I would like Amsterdam. I think those people got their act together. And they're not nearly as prudish and tight as Americans. I think I need a culture shock, what do you think? I still want to study in Paris next summer, but I need to get four things in order: 1) money, 2) straighten out my awful French, 3) convince the parental units that it's a good idea, and 4) convince myself that taking a break from theater jobs for a summer is a good idea. I mean, if I don't go abroad now, I might never do it, you know? Step one... Money...
