Fire in the Fine Arts Building written @ 10:36 PM on December 05, 2002 2nd Entry of the Day: Brian called me about an hour and a half ago to tell me that the Fine Arts building was on fire! I said.... "WHAT?!" Why the fuck couldn't it have been the math building or the athletics center? He was preparing for a show when someone came by and told them to evacuate the building-- fire on the second floor, which would be part of the theater and music departments. The cast, apparently, had to go rescue the visual artists on the fourth floor, because the fourth floor is somewhat isolated from the rest of the Fine Arts building. That was "interesting to see," according to him. The story floating around is that one of the professors, Mary Jo, was smoking in her office and threw the butt into the garbage can, which is a big no-no to begin with. So Brian, the cast from "The Twelfth Night," everyone from the audience, and the artists slaving away on their final projects were standing outside in the freezing cold for an hour, I guess, so the show was late in starting. Brian said the place was still pretty smokey at intermission. He's going to come by to my place later and pick up the stuff he bought at Meijer. We both had to go and do some dorm/Christmas shopping. I ended up shoveling and brushing off Esmeralda the emerald UNYCORN with my dust brush and pan. She bit me with some of the sharp ice clinging to her on my knuckles, so now I have a very large bandaid covering a very large gash on my middle finger. I guess my poor car was angry that I didn't shovel her out sooner. Poor Esmeralda, I wish there was more I could do for her, but I got her all warmed up, defrosted, and most of the snow and the ice is off her. She needs a big wreath or something. Something to make her look festive. She's so lonely out in the parking lot; it's hard to make friends with the other cars when you never get parked next to the same ones each time you come back from a trip. Ah shoot, it's like the first day of school over and over again all year. She likes Harry Potter; I play the soundtracks for her a lot. Well, in the words of Argus Filch, caretaker of Hogwarts, spoken through Brian, "Ah, pull yo'self togetha man!" My first and only class is cancelled tomorrow, so I get to sleep in and catch up on work as I wish. I have to go to Tri-County Mall tomorrow for that interview, though. I'm nervous. I never worked retail before; I have only my misery from Bob Evans to relate. Plus my experiences in graphic design. That's it. I wonder what Caylah's doing. I should probably work on my novel.
