The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Oh Happy Wand! written @ 4:26 PM on November 13, 2002 I was painting in my room last night-- with the door open-- and Cassie, who lives right next door and diagonal from me, walked in. "Hey, Sam!" "Hey, how are you?" "Oh, pretty good." Cassie is a short auburn-reddish hair kind of girl who is absolutely bouncy and flamboyant. If she had been born in mythological times, she would have either been a nymph, a pixie, or a faery. I really like the girl because she's got some odd ideas... well, basically, every time I see her I get the impression I'm looking at the red-haired version of me. Then another girl who lives directly across from me, Carrie, stopped by. "Hey, Cassie, are you ready to go? Is there a reason why you're standing here in the middle of the hallway?" "Er... We're going to get 'Lord of the Rings,'" Cassie explained to me. "Would you like to come?" Like rocket fire, I asked casually, "The Special Edition DVD?" "Yes!" they both answer. "I'm there." And then they gasped and started giggling like school girls. "Yes! She likes Lord of the Rings, she likes Lord of the Rings!!" they sang. Having been exposed to normal people for the past three months of my life since entering college, I'm taken aback by this flippant behavior now. I stared at them blankly. "Quick! Quick!" they shout, jumping up and down at the door. "Who's your favorite Fellowship member!" They had said it in such a way that I felt as if I were being interrogated for committing a murder. There was only one answer to that question for me, but I felt perhaps they would be angry if I said it. Still, honesty is the best policy, so I uttered meekly, "Um... Legolas?" Their eyes widened. All of a sudden-- "S I S T E R !!!!!" They rushed into the room and nearly crushed me with the excited power in their arms. So we traipsed away to Meijer, where they were selling the DVD at sale price. And then we stared at the Harry Potter books for a long time. A really long time. Cassie departed for a brief moment to look at the CDs, only to come dashing back to me with the Harry Potter soundtrack. "Yes," I said lovingly, "I have it." "Really? You have this one?" I looked at it a second time. It was the soundtrack for "The Chamber of Secrets." *GASP* I bought it. And it sounds great. I kind of like the orchestral theme to this one better than the first one. Last night was also the night when I bought "The Chamber of Secrets" tickets online for my floor. I must have spent $84-- and they better pay me back. *hiss* Last evening was the "What House Would You Be Sorted Into?" Harry Potter Survey of the Day Question. Surprisingly, Ravenclaw has won. Tonight is "How Would You Like to Kill Voldemort?" Otherwise beyond my HP hype/obsession, my life is beginning to become unraveled and frazzled due to a slew of final projects coming up. I'm trying to get a foothold on my work, but *sigh* the going is slow. I'm glad I eradicated my night classes for next semester because those were just a pain in the ass. My roommate perplexes me. I like the girl some days, and other days I just want to shake her by the shoulders. She sleeps all day. There has hardly been a day all this week when she has risen to go to class. She just sleeps and sleeps. And then around four or five o'clock, she'll rise, take a shower, get prettied up, and then go out until midnight or one in the morning. During these scant few hours when she is awake, she'll drink and smoke a bowl, invite those crazy friends of hers from the other hall into the room, smoke some more, go out and party... and... And when she does come back, only then does she decide to do her homework... whilst talking on the phone. By one or two in the morning, she goes to sleep again. Now, I'm not sure how she's doing in her classes. I know she's had an academic advising appointment and she's made out her schedule for second semester, but you do the math. Me? I am quite convinced she won't fail college due to poor grades. No, I believe she'll fail college because she slept through it all.
