The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Macibj written @ 10:30 AM on October 10, 2003 Geneaology musing of the hour: From the Rhode Island Death index micro fiche: Joseph Kwarciak died August 9, 1943. His parents are listed as Macibj and Teresa. You can't get any more Polish-sounding than that. Come on now. Everyone say that name with me: Macibj! English phonetics fail me in this case. And this guy was my great-great-great grandfather, too. Somehow by pronouncing it "Ma-seebj" it doesn't ring so clear. Macibj. And Teresa. Macibj and Teresa. Wow. Feels good to be Polish now.
