The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Motley News written @ 3:15 PM on January 08, 2003 I have decided that I would like to start my own business. Of course, I didn't just wake up one day and decide this, as I tend to do with other projects of mine, and I am not ready to seriously pursue such schemes at this point in time, but I have come to the conclusion that it is something I would like to do-- in addition to my independent art work, graphic design career, writing career, scenic design career, and other careers I have lined up. Which you all know I'll be able to balance and fit into a 24-hour day! *by this time, you should be noting the sarcasm* Work was ungodly slow last night and I was by myself, so I drafted up a list of things that I would need to think about for my business. I decided it was going to be art-related, as that is how I need to peddle my wares, and I thought of calling it Sam's Artistic Wonder World-- a place where art and Willy Wonka collide into this one great big mass explosion of creative energy! My motto: Think Color. Yeap, that's Sam's store right there. I had a lot of fun thinking about particulars and issues to be dealt with, but I ultimately decided that it was definitely an end-of-the-semester, summer project to work on. My biggest question now is whether to make it into a website or turn myself into a peddling vendor destined for flea markets and the Lakota East Craft Show. It could be fun and profitable either way. I will not add further particulars to this idea, but I will mention that I have my mother's support on this project. Which is a first when it comes to my litany of projects. *** I had a major breakthrough in the Robert branch of my family tree! I'm now back to the 1640s on my maternal great-great grandmother's side. Once more, I find that side of the family is rooted in French Canada, and on back to France. My grandfather is going to be visiting this weekend. That's when I'll give him my Christmas gift. I'm also going to try a new tactic when it comes to researching my grandmother's side. This is the side of the family that changed their surname for reasons unknown upon settling in Yonkers, NY at the turn of the last century. It's been a brickwall in my research because I don't know what the original surname was. I have a photo album that her parents kept full of black and white pictures of their friends/distant family members. I'm going to try searching for the friends in the Census, and hopefully I'll fall upon the Krasmansky/Kwarciaks' in the same enumeration district. Might work... *** I have a headache now because I slept weird last night... and there's no aspirin in the house. *sigh* *** I think I'll work on my books some now.
