The Diary of Queen Mothy |
A Voice From the Past--- haaaa! written @ 12:49 PM on September 23, 2002 I just learned recently that an old friend from middle school in New Jersey is actually going to CCM at the University of Cincinnati. To give a brief profile, his name is Nick, and we suffered together through French I in the eighth grade with Monsieur Kulp, the German-speaking French teacher. (Long story, that one) Nick really used to make me laugh, and we had a great time in the drama club. I remember him specifically in "Night Chills by Edgar Allen Poe," as Roderick, but I think he may have been in "Charlotte's Web" as a minor character too, if my memory serves me correctly. He just e-mailed me back. He actually has relatives in Cincinnati, so the move to UC was not as heavy as it sounds. He wants to get together soon to catch up and take a walk down Memory Lane. God, it's like a dream. For so long I've wanted to go back to South Jersey and just find out what happened to everyone. I will have to bring my eighth grade yearbook-- it's amazing how little I remember, especially when it comes to people's names and faces. But I was always bad at that. Even so, I feel so elated. I can only imagine what it's going to be like, actually sitting down with him and talking about-- well-- another life essentially! I know he and my other friend Mike were into making movies, in the drama club through high school, and had a band. You should listen to some of their stuff; it's amazing, and you all know my taste in music is select. I hated myself in middle school, but I think that was an awkward time for everyone. I was the most gawkish, insane little girl you had ever seen who resisted growing up at every whim. I think it will be interesting to see how far I've come in a little more than four years through his eyes. I should say the same about him, too. He was not the most popular guy, but he was well liked, if I remember correctly. Some people thought he was nuts, but that just comes with the territory when it came to being in *that* drama club. All in all, life is good. I'm not bogged down by work so much. I finished the second Harry Potter book this morning-- really, guys, if you haven't read them, you're missing out. I start the third one tonight. The second one made me nearly want to stop writing in diaries though-- creepy Lord Voldemort guy. Snape's got to be my favorite professor, the evil bastard. And Wood (the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team) doesn't sound nearly as attractive in the book as he looks in the movie, but my eyes may have been tired when I read that paragraph. I have to go to my stagecraft lab class in about an hour or so. This week is the opening week for "Man of La Mancha" and we're still working on the sets. Immediately following are rehearsals for "The Twelfth Night," and we'll be starting the sets for that show ASAP. I need to work out my schedule for next semester so I can get into the drafting and rendering class. Ah well, so that's life. Ryan, have you watched Survivor? This is going to be one of the best ones yet, if you ask me!
