The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Work and Part 1 of the Roadrage Diaries written @ 6:51 PM on May 28, 2003 RoAdRaGe DiArIeS: Tuesday... I cannot abide Cincinnati drivers, plain and simple. Still, as long as I have my coffee and my tunes, I will be able to survive rush hour traffic-- which includes every single 18-wheeler in America and the worst of the Cinci drivers. Wednesday... Someone decided it would be amusing to place a shelving unit in the middle of 275 this morning (probably to conveniently put on display unsuspecting drivers' body parts). Esmeralda does not appreciate swerving to keep from hitting shelving units. I will kill the bastard who did it. To be continued... *** Work has been interesting so far. This is my first job, where I'm commuting to school (signifying the birth of the RoAdRaGe DiArIeS) and working in the theater department as a scenic and props painter. The drawback is that Ron is my boss. He is quite possibly one of the laziest human beings I have ever met. If it involves him in any way, his response for the last two days has been that he'll "do it after lunch." Meanwhile, I'm doing idle chores that bear no importance in the grand scheme of things from 10 to 12 noon, when I could be hauling the furniture from storage, like... NOW. Yesterday it was different. He gave me a tour of all six on-campus props storage rooms (and you thought the high school props rooms were scary...oooohhhh noooo), a list of props needed for "Greater Tuna," and told me to go fetch. And that was fun. But there was very little left to do after I found most of the 14 props on the list. I got to go home early. The thing about Ron, though, is that now that he has a "helper"-- moi-- and he really doesn't have to do much of anything anymore, I become the work bitch who suddenly "must" complete menial tasks. I don't mind it, honestly. But what I do mind is when he doesn't haul his own weight around and exploits the help. Mais c'est la vie. The one good thing about having Ron as a boss? I get out early and still get my $2000. Over all, job #1 is peachy keen. There's always something new to do. That's the great thing about working in the theater. *** Tomorrow I meeting Kristin downtown at the Performance Gallery for my second job as a scenic designer. I can't wait! That's going to be fun. The only factor that could throw a chink in the whole thing is if they need draftings and ground plans... which I really don't know how to do yet... but is a necessary aspect to scenic design. But hey! Dad didn't go to the University of Dayton to major in engineering for nothing! *evil wink*
