The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Dad's Tractor written @ 9:52 PM on April 06, 2003 Story of the Day: "Your father bought one of those lawn mower tractor things... No, not a John Deere, a cheaper kind from Sears. Well, Jonathan decided that he likes it and is currently using it as his car. He drives it up the street, he drives it down the street. He cuts our grass, he cuts Andy's grass, the boys have races on it, he cuts the neighbors' grass. He rode it down the middle of the street the other day with all these cars moving slowly behind him, and he didn't care. Your father only realized that tractor was getting unnecessary mileage on it when he noticed it was parked oddly in the garage. "And then he discovered that Sears gave him the wrong barrel for the grass clippings, so now there's grass clippings all over Grey Fox Drive, our yard, the neighbors' yard, and tracked through the house. So, of course, your father went to Sears and probably had a bitch fest, you know, the old Dave Reno charm? So he's been all huffy. But ha! I don't care! Jonathan's getting all his hours in for his temps on this damned thing. I don't care. Let him go!" This story compliments of my mother, who is truly trying to keep her sanity at that house. *** Cassie, Autumn, Christyna, and I went to O'Charley's last night for some food, fun, and fellowship. We got to talking about Disney movies, and Cassie and I decided we wanted to have a Disney movie night. We rented "Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Hercules" and had a grand old time in her dorm room. I didn't get to bed until two in the morning, and because it was daylight saving's time and I lost an hour, I felt like someone suffering from jet lag between time zones-- in a word, shit. And then I spent the afternoon listening to Christine go on and on and on and on and on about how shitty she felt about her health and life in general (not that any of it was completely her fault), and to be perfectly frank, that was mentally and emotionally draining because now it has to deal with pyschic stuff. Then Tricia called and we went to dinner together. We planned to go to mass services in an effort to win this heretic some brownie points in the Catholic church, but services at the Newmann Center were cancelled. So I came back and worked on my novel for a long time. I have at last hit the ultimate climax of the book! Feels pretty good, too. While working, I downloaded some Aerosmith, Tom Petty, and No Doubt onto my system... my tastes in music are changing all of a sudden. I caught myself listening to pop this afternoon. But I digress. I reached the turning point in my novel where I have completely departed from the seemingly real, and it should become blatantly apparent to the reader that this is a fantasy series. Oh yeah. It was quite the transition: a couple of key murders, a few madmen running around, and, of course, the proverbial changing of the tides for the characters involved. Generally, I'm happy about what I've covered today. Tomorrow I think I'll go back over what I read and check to see if anything's out of place or, quite frankly, dumb. But, you know... because I've felt so drained of energy today, I think I'm going to hit the sack early.
