The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Ring-Ring-Ring!! written @ 9:06 PM on September 28, 2004 Guess what, kids! Yours truly is living proof that history can and will repeat itself in all its vicious glory. Last night dorm groupie Erin and I went to Starbucks for a cup of coffee and to do some studying in a creative environment. When we returned we discovered that our dorm was in the middle of a fire drill, and everyone was standing outside chillin' like villains. April, our pet freshman, ran up to me and exclaimed, with wet dripping hair, "Guess what, Sam! I managed to dress into my clothes after my shower before the fire drill! I heard you weren't so lucky one time." Tis true, tis true. I've often been told that people's favorite entry from my diary is the one where I got caught in the shower during a drill my freshman year and was subjected to public scrutiny for being the only one outside wearing nothing but a towel. Ah, I was such a modest maiden. In the course of all the activity and excitement, I conveniently forgot that fire drills in our dorm run in magic cycles of two. So there I was, taking my shower at my usual time last night, when the alarm went off again. Instead of freezing and freaking out like my freshman year, however, I sighed nonchalantly, wrapped my towel around my soaked, soapy body-- conditioner running down my face-- and strutted outside like a trooper. Don't ask me why it hasn't occurred to me to get a bath robe by now. I guess somehow I figured this would never happen again. I was one of the last ones to get outside, and when I did, the dorm folk gave this loud, victorious cheer as if happy days had come again. Why this stuff continues to happen to me, I will just never understand. But I didn't earn the award "Most Likely to Get Caught in the Shower During a Fire Drill" at last year's C-Wing Superlatives for nothing, you know. *** And more good news. Remember how I was freaking out about my art history test? 98%, mo-fo. Take that, art gods.
