Designing Shows and Nikons written @ 8:55 PM on August 26, 2003 Entry #2 for the day... My scenic design class is going to rock. There are two big class projects in between the "lectures" Ron is going to give us (the word lectures is in quotations because it is impossible for Ron to give a real lecture) in which we get to design the sets of two different shows for our final grades. While going through the syllabus, Ron kept periodically giving me those crooked smiles he is noted for giving, and I figured that could only mean I was going to be the princess of the class. Ooooooooh, goodie... *evil laugh* And-- guess what!!-- after the class he asked me if I would like to be an assistant scenic designer for Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, the second production NKU plans to put on stage this semester. Do you guys have any idea what this means?! After I go through an assistant designer position, I GET TO DESIGN SHOWS FOR THE SCHOOL ON MY OWN! *does a victory dance* Score, score, score! Score, score, score! Scenic designing career, here I come! The world of theater, here I come! Reno gone done rockin' da house! Woo! Okay, okay, I'll chill. This entry must continue... My last class was Basic Photography with a really cool guy as my instructor. The syllabus he handed us was monstrous, and he warned us that we'll be spending $200-$500 on supplies for this class. God, I was so bummed and disgruntled about that. I went to the Florence Mall in search for some of the horrendous photo materials he had on the list, and I got away with five rolls of Kodak TRI-X film (36 exposures), a 25 pack of negative files, Kodak Polycontrast RC paper, and tongs for $55 with a student discount. Tomorrow I have to go to Pete's PhotoWorld immediately after my drawing class and find all the chemicals that I need. As for the camera, I was about to spend $289 on the Nikon N65 when Mother saved me (and my bank account) just in time by contacting my aunt in North Carolina, who happens to have my grandfather's manual Nikon which is in excellent condition. My aunt is going to Fed-Ex the camera up to my mother, and I'm going to pick it up when I go home for Labor Day this weekend. I pray, pray, PRAY it is the right kind of camera that I need for that photo class. Ohhhh, Grandpap, send a little miracle my way. *** This evening, one of the hallmates is showing The Two Towers, so her room is prolly where I'm going to be this evening. I don't want to stay for the whole thing because I have a 9am class tomorrow (and it's international politics... ugh), but... *evil grin* you know me when it comes to my elves.
