The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Escape From Technology! written @ 10:19 PM on October 05, 2004 Just to let you all know that I survived my harrowing ordeal with the $10,000 printer. My classmate and I sulked into our professor's office and confessed our heinous deed. For a moment our prof had this deer-caught-in-headlights look as we described the bloody events one right after the other. Then we went down into the lab and conducted a further investigation of the damage. It seems as though the gloss on the paper as it was fed into the printer melted on the rollers when it was heated using the rubber-based ink. The result was the squealing and jamming that commenced, followed by the spitting out of parts and obliteration of the paper. Finally I asked the Question of Questions: "Is it fixable?" I peeped. My prof shrugged. "We'll see, won't we?" She went off to phone the maintenance guys and told us to start the class. As to whether or not my peer and I will have to cough up any repair charges is yet to be seen, but so far it looks like it might be something the art department is going to eat. I felt a little better, naturally, even though I'm still holding my breath... *** Wow, I'm watching the Cheney/Edwards debate and the bullets are flying. I had a feeling this would be far more entertaining than Bush/Kerry. Stay tuned, eh? I have other things to write about but my thoughts are flying apart so I'm going to stop here.
