Catch Ye Lucky Charms! written @ 11:17 PM on October 04, 2002 I had two bowls of Lucky Charms today for breakfast. Mmmmm. Add a cup of coffee, and I figured I had a satisfactory breakfast. Oh yeah. And Brad came. I finally snapped at him for staring at me the way he usually does, as if I was an interesting book and not a human being who has had her share of "stalkers." Now-- here's the question: how to get rid of him without making an ass out of myself and turning into the bad guy? Hmmm. The age old dilemma ensues. Lucky for me, I have a weekend's worth of homework ahead of me, and I will love every minute of it. Lucky, lucky. See what luck Lucky Charms can bring? Stagecraft was interesting. We learned how to build staircases and specialized platforms. My professor, in a fit of ecstacy when dicussing stairs, suddenly began to sing "Maniac" and did the little "Tommy Boy" dance he did in the gas station. The class was rolling. Overall, for a nine am class it wasn't bad. Afterwards, I was on a mission. I tracked down Joe Conger, ye god Theater Chairman, and got him to sign my paper that added my second major. I transferred my permanent file, glimpsing my transcript from high school-- yikes-- from the art department to the theater department. Then I went to that awful registration office, and here's where our story leaves off: (Sam walks in and observes the smarmy little guy with the dark hair and big glasses behind the computer.) "Smarmy": May I help you? Sam: Yes. I have a signed paper here to add a major. (He takes the paper and peers at it through his thick glasses. He begins to type in the computer. Sam waits patiently. After a while, Smarmy picks up the paper and studies it intently.) Sam (sensing a problem): It's to add a major. (Smarmy does not answer) Sam (trying to be helpful): I want to keep graphic design and add theater. Smarmy: It says to keep your major and add theater. Sam (looking blank): Yes. Keep graphic design and add theater. Smarmy: So you want to keep graphic design and add theater? Sam: Yes. I want a BFA in graphic design and a BA in theater. Smarmy (looking at the computer): But it says here you only have BA status in graphic design. Sam: Does it? Well, they do things differently in the art department. I get to declare BFA later, now that I think about it. Smarmy: Do you want a BFA in graphic design? Sam (thinking this guy is either very smart or very stupid): Yes. But not now! I'm only a freshman, I can't add BFA to my degree yet. Smarmy: So enter you in with a BA in graphic design and a BA in theater? Sam: *sigh* I guess so. Smarmy: Good luck. Sam: Thanks. (No thanks to you, buddy.) It's no fucking wonder those people screwed up my AP credit a couple of weeks ago. But as of 10:03 am on Friday, October 4, 2002 AD I am a double major-- if all goes well between the transfer of paper to database, of which I have very little faith in the people of the office now. "The road goes ever on and on, Down from the door where it began." So feeling like a Christ figure carrying two fresh beams for a cross in which I'll nail myself to, say, by second semester, I went back to my dorm. There my roommate was still asleep-- there's only been a certain few times in which I've seen her awake (she's gotta be a vampire)-- and there was a message on my machine. I pushed Play. "Beep. Hellooooo, Samantha RENO! This is Private Sean Townsend calling from the Army--" "Oh Jesus Christ..." "-- Just calling to see what's up, but as you're not in, I'll catch you sometime later. See ya! Beep." (Christine, please refrain from throwing your heels at your computer.) Which brings me up to now. A pretty eventful morning, I suppose. I plan to work on stuff the rest of the day, and then go to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra tonight. I'll update later tonight with how that went. Jess, no sweat. I deleted that stuff from this entry. I wasn't about to keep something like that in here permanently. I think I needed a vent myself. You are one of my best friends, Jess, and if you want to do something this weekend, I am all for it. Call me before six or so tonight. Later.... The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra was excellent. They had a guest composer, John Adams, directing Copland, Verdi, Respighi, and a concerto of his own making. I loved Respighi; the finale was simply moving. I'd go again.
