The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Random Events/Thoughts of the Day written @ 3:15 PM on November 03, 2003 Warning: extremely random entry ahead. My financial situation has become such that I swallowed enough pride to not only hit my mother up for cash, but also my dad. I need a job, and I don't think it can wait until my winter break. Speaking of winter-- or lack thereof-- it was an interesting day outside on campus. Get this: November 3 and people are wearing tank tops and shorts due to the bizarre eighty-degree weather. Well, I suppose I have been witness to stranger things. I register for my Spring '04 classes today! And a great thing about it is I don't have any general studies courses that will make me descend from my proverbial tower to mingle with the peons. *lol* God, that sounded so awful of me, but I hate those general studies courses. Here's what I plan on taking: Survey of Western Art I, Painting I, Sculpture I, Acting I, Fundamentals of Theatrical Design, an Honors course, and my theatrical production hour-- 19 semester hours total. I'll have junior status by the end of the spring, and my credits will be such that I will have achieved senior status by Fall '04 semester. How bizarre is that? Thing is, I'm going to be one of those 7-year seniors, as they're known as around here. *** I'm really thinking about designing a site that publishes my novels on the Web. There are a number of problems that go into this, however: 1) copyright laws/risk of infringement, 2) generating an audience, 3) risk of never getting published in book format, and 4) whatever my narrow scope has missed. But there are also some positive sides to publishing on the Web: 1) it could run akin to "fan fiction" and generate a loyal body of readers, 2) less paper and less risk of getting pushed aside on an editor's desk, 3) easy to upload character sheets, maps, and sketches, and 4) designing a cool site for the sake of designing a cool site. So... I don't know. Just a thought I've been turning over in my head as I do homework... and paint... and write more stuff... and do whatever else it is that I do. What do you guys think? After having a three-hour writing session with Book Two in my series and reviewing what I wrote, I am confidant in its success. I have only about six more chapters and three major battles to write before I can move onto Book Three. *giddy* I have so much creative energy now that I have very little patience for school work. I want to paint, write, design random shit! God, it feels good to be alive now. *** The Official Lady Bug INFESTATION of 2003 continues in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. They've formed a small civilization in the northeast corner of my room-- at last count, the population was 40, and the thriving city in the dorm lobby was up to 60. And believe me, they bite. Hey, you guys remember Casey's ant wars? This is what it's like in a nut shell. *** It struck me in my international politics class today how silly and pointless arguing about religion truly is. It seems to me all of a sudden that it's more or less arguing about whether the glass is half full or half empty. Well, I'm going to work on some homework and then register.
