The Diary of Queen Mothy |
Va-va-va-voooom! written @ 10:48 PM on June 26, 2004 I would just like to confirm the following: it is true that if you do put a marshmallow in a microwave, it will expand five times its size. I was awed. Oh dear, oh dear, it's been a while since I've updated. What has our fearless leader been doing this week? I went to my first W.C.-Liberty Township Arts Council meeting this week. In a phrase, "holy shit, I have found my venue." The young Arts Council was just beginning to gain momentum when yours truly walked on the stage. What has yours truly done in a single meeting? Helped to form and helm the specialized fine arts committee of the council, joined the fight to resurrect the W.C. Community Theatre, is now in the midst of plotting a cultural "Renaissance" in northern Cincinnati, is busy scheming to put together a huge Arts Festival at the Voice of America Park, and is finding places to exhibit artwork. Holy shit, guys! I've struck gold! This evening I helped to hand out literature at the W.C. Symphony Orchestra concert, and then later went to Barnes&Noble with some of the council members to plot, scheme, and conspire to bring W.C. to the forefront in the Midwest arts scene. I feel so empowered in my mission to shove the arts scene down the throats of the people of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky that I am glowing! Simply glowing! I am fulfilling a portion of my lifelong goals dating back to the nineth grade. So to begin my quest to be the ultimate Patroness des Arts, I bought a book on art marketing and legal mumbo-jumbo this evening and have raised half a website showcasing my own work, complete with links to various arts organizations in the area. I will give you the address to that when it's closer to completion. Mmmm, feel the power of The Sam. I am so ready to rock the W.C. and be a mover and shaker of the arts. By the time I'm through with northern Cincinnati, there isn't going to be a single person who doesn't know my name. You watch. Tee hee, I'm so proud and excited right now! I've been given a buzz of confidence that's going to give me the courage and the gall to get through the rest of this year. Can I get a "wha-wha?" *does the raise-da-roof thang* *** In further news, I am nearing completion of my glass panel painting, which is a very intriguing piece to look at when you see all nine panels placed together on a wall. I truly suffered for my art on this one: I sliced off the tip of my index finger with a razor blade and didn't realize it until my finger went numb. So... yeah... I christened the piece with my blood. Furthermore, I'm going to begin another glass panel painting using a tree in my backyard that is similar in color to the Japanese maple I painted a while back. I'm thinking red glass for this one... red glass and a limited color palette. And, once I finish Jessica's portrait, I'll be scouting landscapes at the park. *maw-ha-ha-haaa-progress-ha-haaaa* *** Went to the Greek Festival in Finneytown last night with Jessica. Mmm, Greek food... I bought my annual piece of Greek jewelry; it's a silver ring with a lapis stone, very fab. I also bought dear Kat two pleasing Greek baubles, which I must find some way to mail to her in New York. Tomorrow I have to go into work to strike the set for my play. *sigh* Thank goodness it's almost done. Before that I'm going to the Reds vs. Pirates game with my dad, though. Pirates better kick ass or it'll put me in a sour mood. I actually shouldn't say that now that one of the current and one of the former Reds players are my clients for their education and character funds... Yowsers. In two weeks I'll be beginning my work with Ovation Theatre and getting my bearings there. The art director is supposed to give me the script for the show next he wants me to design next summer. I'll need to push for a design position in the fall too. Viva la portfolio! Va-va-va-voooom! Off we go.
